The auto transport industry has never been the same since the introduction of Central Dispatch. Central Dispatch is a website that acts as a load board for auto transport brokers to post vehicles for any auto hauler to see and call upon. It really helped the industry by allowing smaller companies to gain momentum and grow into a larger business. It also helped independent haulers work on their own schedule and make their own money. Basically, it changed the industry into what it is today. Today’s industry is majority a broker run industry because they can advertise and gather customers from anywhere in the United States and post them onto Central Dispatch and allow haulers from anywhere in the United States have the ability to work their preferred route. The praise for this easy to use website was endless.
The introduction of Central Dispatch was great back then, but there is currently a need for more and Central Dispatch has been dragging their feet. Other load boards out there have the ability to do eSignatures, have smartphone and tablet Apps available, have eBill of Ladings, etc. This is where we need innovation from Central Dispatch.
There are companies such as Carriersoft, Auto Broker Dispatch, uShip, and a few others that are trying to be innovative, but do not have the size and customer base as Central Dispatch. For this industry to continue to grow, become more efficient, and more credible we need Central Dispatch to add new features that will save its customers time and money. Recently, DealerTrack purchased Central Dispatch and their partner websites for $75+ Million dollars. That is a staggering amount. Since the purchase, Central Dispatch has just been stagnant. No new features, no new processes, nothing. For DealerTrack to keep Central Dispatch #1 it needs to keep improving the customer experience.
Is anyone going to take down Central Dispatch? Right now there are other businesses trying to take their shots at them, but it isn’t enough. Who will be the one to take the powerhouse and knock them off? The company with the most innovation of features, most customer friendly experience and best overall use of the product will. The name of that company is unknown, but they might be closer than you think.
